A Food Drive Challenge – Charlotte vs Denver
Brought to you by the people of The United Methodist Church
Hey Charlotte – let’s beat Denver on and off the field!
As we look forward to the Panthers claiming their first Super Bowl victory, the United Methodist Churches in Charlotte have accepted a challenge from our brothers and sisters in Denver to a Food Drive and we are inviting you to join us.
The contest is to see which city can collect the most non-perishable food items between now and the Big Game. Suggestions include: soups, canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned meat, rice, dried beans… You get the idea.
Items can be taken to Providence UMC (2810 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211), where you will find a Loaves and Fishes truck in their parking lot – or – you can donate the food you collect to a food bank or pantry near you.
While Charlotte was challenged specifically, we’re inviting all churches in the WNCC to participate. After all, we are the CAROLINA Panthers. To join in, please email unitedmethodistskeeppounding@gmail.com with your church name and the food bank or pantry you will be supporting.
Then, on January 29, February 4, and February 8, email the total number of food items you’ve collected. (We’re counting items, not weight. Monetary donations will count as 1 item per dollar.)

In 2014, Denver collected 104K items and Seattle only 53K. We can join the Panthers’ winning season by being victorious in this Food Drive.
We have until 11:59 pm February 7th (Game Day) to help feed more hungry people than Denver – showing that #UnitedMethodistsKeepPounding on and off the field.
