Rev. Suzanne Dornsmith

Suzanne grew up in Tampa, Florida and was shaped in her faith within Hyde Park United Methodist Church.  In her college days at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina her faith journey continued.  She was very involved in the Student Christian Association on Campus and formed many friendships that continue to nurture her today.  After college, Suzanne served as a US-2 (missionary within the United States) at Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House in East St. Louis, Illinois. She worked there in community programs and shared information about the ministry of Neighborhood House with churches in the surrounding areas.  After that she headed to Duke Divinity School where she received her MDiv. and began her formal training for pastoral ministry.

At Duke, Suzanne met Eddie and they were married in 1998. They spent their first year of marriage in Berkeley, California while Suzanne pursued further studies at the Pacific School of Religion.  In 2007, their family grew to include their daughter Seren.  The Dornsmith’s enjoy traveling and visiting National Parks, watching movies (especially in the MCU), and playing games of all kinds.

Suzanne has pastored churches in Sauk Centre, MN at Sauk Centre UMC and First UCC of Sauk Centre; in Chapel Hill, NC at University UMC; in Concord, NC at Forest Hill UMC.  Suzanne came to Calvary UMC in July 2021.  She continues to live out her call to share light and God’s love to the church and the community around her!
