2015 Outreach Report

The Outreach Committee meets quarterly to plan the mission emphasis for the church. The committee members are dedicated to keeping missions alive at Calvary. Donations from the budget are disbursed for local mission agencies, United Methodist Agencies, such as Red Bird Mission, Henderson Settlement, and UMCOR. We also provide support missionary support.

The Outreach Committee supports many local ministries such as Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, Crisis Assistance, Salvation Army Center of Hope, Care Ring, Charlotte Family Housing, Mecklenburg Ministries, Child’s Place, Agape Dental, Cooperative Christian Ministry-UNCC, Classroom Central, and MATCH.

Members of our congregation place an offering at the communion rail when communion is served the first Sunday of each month. The offerings are donated to Second Harvest Food Bank Backpack Program to provide children a backpack of food on Friday afternoon.

Project Agape

Project AGAPE – a ministry to Armenia and to some of our most desperate Christian brothers and sisters – is a collaborative effort of the North Carolina and Western North Carolina Conferences of The United Methodist Church in a joint effort with the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Project Agape has been our primary mission project for many years. Since only new shoes are accepted, monetary support as well as donations of clothing, food, school supplies, and Christmas Shoe Boxes for the families in Armenia, are collected in the fall. Members of our congregation, United Methodist Women, and the Outreach Committee provide donations to purchase new shoes for the Armenian children.
